I have the great privilege to attend dental conferences all around the world and this Hobart conference would have to rate amongst the very best I have been to” so said Dr John Besford, flamboyant keynote speaker to the ADPA’s 20th Biennial Conference, held in Hobart, Tasmania, in August 2009. “My wife Sonja and I have very muchenjoyed your wonderful hospitality in what we now know is the world’s foundation place for Dental Prosthetists. The professional approach to all you do here is an inspiration. If we were younger we would like to live here”
ADPA Tasmania President, Russell Brownlie, is delighted with the result of four years of planning... “With full support from federal council the organizing committee took great care in drafting the program to show the best the profession has to offer in Australia. As conference planners you always hope members enjoy thevariety of speakers and social functions but this conference far exceeded all our expectations” Mr. Brownlie said. “The success of this conference has clearly demonstrated that ADPA is the peak body representing dental prosthetists in Australia and has the unqualified support of itsmembers”
Over three hundred delegates and accompanying persons traveled to Hobart in what can only be described as appalling weather to find a typically warm welcome from the locals. Following on from Dr Besford delegates were treated to a variety of speakers ranging from implants, superannuation to heath insurance. In a real break from tradition the ‘Save the Tasmanian Devil’ project was a highlight. Mr. Brownlie said “I wanted to demonstrate that the business of dental prosthetics is equally as important as the clinical component of practice routines. Positive feedback from delegates supports that view”
“The look, feel and success of Hobart 2009 have set a new benchmark for the next conference in Darwin 2011 to attain”
